For Students

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working as a Maverick student developer.

How many hours can students work?
Part-time internship students typically work 20 hours a week during the school year and 40 hours a week over the summer. Co-op students typically work 40 hours a week from January to August or from June to December. This is not carved in stone and may be adjusted on a client-by-client basis.
What year in school do I need to be to apply?
We are looking for students who have completed intro to programming and object-oriented programming or data structures courses. If you have done relevant development work outside of class, that will also be considered during the interview and hiring process.
What if I don't have certain technology experience?
Maverick Software Consulting and your client will train you. We look for strong foundational skills and a willingness to learn — specific technology experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
What universities do you recruit from?
Every college and university across the United States that offers a Bachelor's Degree (4 years) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related degrees.
How long will I work for Maverick Software Consulting?
A student will typically work with a client for 1 or 2 years until they graduate from college. Many Maverick graduates go on to be hired full time by their client company.
